When we purchased the property in Alekovo we had to form a company because we were foreigners – and as part of that we had to ocome up with a company name (although the rules have changed now).
After a lot of thought and discussion – because we wanted it to be short as well as relevant and meaningful to us – and so we ended up with “Promises”. And that made sense to us because God promises us that he will look after us in every way, provide for us, protect us – and that His plans for us are perfect and for our good.
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Jeremiah 29:11
And so we went with “Promises” as our company name – and the only assets are the property, and there has never been any trading in that company. Next was to come up with a logo or image that we liked, eventually we found an image of “praying hands” and were very fortunate to find a master artisan craftsman here in Bulgaria who would carve a pair of praying hands that we could put up as plaques.
In fact we ordered 6 plaques carved in seasoned walnut and they have been oiled every year. We have them up outside our main gate, on our barn, in our kitchen with a couple of spares. We think they are beautiful pieces of art and feel so lucky that we found such an amazing craftsman.
