Hi there Bezzie… shopping has never been problem even in depths of winter. The plan is more about what preps to do to the soil, what crops do best with others, some crops need more space cos we store them longer like spuds n carrots and onions and garlic n beets.. and others have to be processed and preserved when ripe like beans and peas and soft fruit. The year before I got ill we reckoned we were 80% self sufficient in veg and meat.
