Originally we were only going to do repairs in a couple of rooms upstairs (in particular where the first surveyor fell through the floor!). But we decided to replace them all as part of our “build as well as we can in our budget for the future” idea. So Nigel’s been putting in new floors upstairs. Insulation will be going in between the noggins and beams, and then he’s going to put traditional wooden floorboards down and then, after the walls have been plasterboarded, skirting board.
We originally wanted reclaimed timber floorboards, but they are very hard to find as floorboards in derelict or abandoned houses are most often “nicked” first for firewood in the winter!
